On Tuesday 14 November, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo attended a European Council dinner discussion on the EU’s forthcoming Strategic Agenda and policy guidelines for 2024–2029 in Copenhagen. In addition to Prime Minister Orpo, the prime ministers of Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, Bulgaria, Ireland and the Czech Republic took part in the discussion.

The dinner was held at the invitation of President of the European Council Charles Michel and was hosted by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen at Christiansborg Palace. The dinner is part of a series of Strategic Agenda consultations where the Member States will form a common view on what direction the EU should take over the coming years.

“Finland’s priorities in the discussions include strengthening the EU’s competitiveness and deepening the single market, developing security cooperation and defence, and speeding up the clean transition. EU enlargement and support for Ukraine are also key themes for us,” says Prime Minister Orpo.

Discussions on the EU Strategic Agenda will continue at the European Council meetings until summer 2024.
