Minister of Economic Affairs Lintilä to attend the world's leading Clean Energy Ministerial conference in Pittsburgh

Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä will attend the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) at the Global Clean Energy Action Forum hosted by the United States in Pittsburgh this week. At the conference, the ministers will discuss current global energy challenges and aim to find shared solutions for them.

The Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF) is a major energy policy conference that aims to accelerate the global transition to clean energy. GCEAF will have more than 30 countries together with businesses and organisations presenting their solutions to energy questions. GCEAF, which is expected to attract some 6,000 attendees, is chaired by US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm.

Finland’s key themes are low-carbon roadmaps and hydrogen

Minister of Economic Affairs Lintilä will represent Finland at GCEAF's plenary sessions, roundtable discussions and panels, where he will speak about topics such as hydrogen, biorefineries and sustainable carbon cycles. The GCEAF events will seek solutions for phasing out fossil energy sources. 

Since GCEAF's inaugural meeting in 2010, Finland has participated in several international initiatives to promote the transition to clean energy. For example, Finland is currently working to advance the integration of energy systems and hydrogen use.

The key themes of Finland’s side events include promoting carbon neutrality objectives through low-carbon roadmaps and the possibilities of clean hydrogen. The Ministry has organised the side events in cooperation with the Confederation of Finnish Industries, Business Finland and P2X Solutions Oy, a company that develops green hydrogen technology.

In New York, Minister Lintilä will meet Finnish businesses operating in the United States, US financial institutions and companies, and representatives of the City of New York. The topics of the discussions are opportunities for Finnish companies in the US market, in addition to the outlook for the United States, the global economy and global energy policy.
