Raimo Antila to continue as Director General of the Department for Work and Gender Equality at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health

On Thursday 10 November, the Government appointed Raimo Antila as Director General of the Department for Work and Gender Equality at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. His new term will begin on 1 December 2022. The appointment is for a fixed period until 30 November 2027.

Raimo Antila has been Director General of the Department for Work and Gender Equality at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health since 2017. Prior to this, he served as Director of Field Operations in the Department for Occupational Safety and Health at the Ministry from 2014 to 2017. Before that, Antila worked as Risk Management Manager at Destia Ltd and its predecessor the Finnish Road Enterprise. He holds the degree of Master of Science in Technology.

The Department for Work and Gender Equality guides and directs the enforcement and administration of occupational safety and health, drafts and develops legislation and policies on occupational safety and health as well as occupational healthcare, and conducts international cooperation in these fields. In addition, the Department prepares and develops the Government’s gender equality policy and gender equality legislation and promotes equality between the genders. The Department is also responsible for dealing with matters pertaining to holiday and stand-in services and the European Union’s structural fund projects and matters that have been assigned to the Ministry by law in its capacity as the occupational safety and health authority.
