Hopeful Future -Writing Contest!
What does the world and future of your dreams look like? If you could change something, what would it be? What kind of nature and society would surround you and how would people around you act?
Join the Hopeful future writing competition!
The Hopeful future competition is organized as part of the 30th anniversary of the Finnish National Commission on Sustainable Development. The purpose of the competition is to inspire people of all ages around Finland to write and reflect on their relationship with the surrounding society, other people and nature and to boldly dream about the future.
The style of the articles is free – you can participate with a poem, story or any other text. The youngest participants can also send drawings or comics. The competition will be open from 1 July to 31 October 2023 and the winners will be announced in November 2023.
Instructions for the competition
The writing style of the work is free, but it must address the given theme hopeful future and take nature into account.
Length of text or maximum size of other work is one (1) A4 page. The participating work is to be sent by email to [email protected].
When sending the work to the competition put into the subject line writingcontest.yourname.categoriex-x (e.g. writingcontest.yourname. 9-10). Add your contact information or your guardian's contact details (name, phone number and email address) and the series in which you participate at the beginning of the message field.
You can take part in the competition in Finnish, English, Swedish, Inari Sámi, Skolt Sámi and North Sámi.
The competition series are: persons aged under 7, persons aged 7 to 8, persons aged 9 to 10, persons aged 11 to 12, persons aged 13 to 15, persons aged 16 to 18 and persons aged over 19. In the first two series, you can also take part with a picture or comic (0-8-year-olds).
The assessment of works takes into account how original and thought-provoking works are and whether they comply with the technical specifications of the competition.

Prizes: Five (5) best works in each series will be published on the kestavakehitys.fi website and authors will receive honorary certificates. In addition to the certificates, three (3) best work in each series will be awarded with gift cards to a bookstore.
