Finland ranks first in international sustainable development comparison

For the first time, Finland has been ranked number one in an international comparison of sustainable development. The esteemed ranking by the UN and the Bertelsmann Foundation is published annually, and Finland has also been in the top three in earlier years, together with Denmark and Sweden. The comparison assesses countries’ progress on implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals.

National Commission on Sustainable Development to begin work on 2030 Agenda roadmap next year based on preliminary study

Next year, the Finnish National Commission on Sustainable Development will draw up a roadmap for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The purpose of the roadmap is to highlight the policies that Finland should pursue in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals at the national level. The UN Member States have jointly agreed on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and on achieving its goals by 2030.

Government submits sustainable development report to Parliament

On Thursday 8 October, the Government submitted to Parliament its Report on the Global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The report is Finland’s national implementation roadmap for achieving the objectives of the 2030 Agenda.
